- Street Tree Maintenance Contract For A Local Authority
Objective
Conduct daily highways tree maintenance works to maintain the tree population and reduce tree / vegetation-related risk on the network.
Context
Over a period of several years we have provided up to 5 teams of arborists to reliably and safely carry out all forms of tree works on a highway maintenance contract.
Delivery
- Dedicated contract manager worked closely with our client's planners to schedule and plan works.
- Works planned one week in advance, enabling any traffic management to be installed before attending site.
- Teams mobilised from our depot on daily basis to facilitate works, recording all work real-time using a tablet and our field management software.
- All risk assessments, safety checks, and site-specific paperwork completed by relevant Team Leader and submitted to our client at the end of each day.
- Weekly operational summaries compiled by our Contract Manger and shared with our client for discussion at a weekly contract review meeting.
- Regular site audits carried out by our HSEQ Manager or Contract Manager.
- All cuttings from the operation fed through hand fed road-tow wood chippers, directly into 3.5 and 5.5 ton tipper lorries.
- All chip delivered back to our depot (registered waste transfer station) and then sold onto BSL-registred biomass customers, or used for rural projects such as pathways, country parks or even cattle bedding.
Outcome
- A safe road network with a healthy and thriving tree population
- A strong and ongoing working relationship with our client
