Large Scots Pine Takedown for Housing Developer

  2. Large Scots Pine Takedown For Housing Developer

Objective

Safely and efficiently remove a large and dangerous dead tree in the rear garden of a residential property.

Context

The project was part of a longstanding framework agreement we are on with a major residential developer. Following a storm, several trees had caused severe damage to houses. Whilst we mobilised rapidly to remove these fallen trees, our client also identified numerous dangerous trees for us to remove on a residential site, including this Scots Pine. After the initial reactive / emergency work, we re-mobilised 24 hours later to take down the pine.

Delivery

  • Pine tree was in close proximity to the rear of the property and patio, with a recently laid lawn. As such, a sensitive and gentle removal was required to mitigate any damage to the property’s garden and ensure safety for its residents.
  • Project conducted with a team of three arborists: one climbing, one lowering the branches carefully to the ground, with the final one chipping and loading the arisings.
  • The tree was felled in sections using rigging kit to lower the branches / limbs safely to the ground under the full control of our team.
  • Matting was laid to protect the lawn and contain the large volumes of sawdust, protecting the garden from damage and ensuring a quick and efficient tidy up.
  • Our intercom headsets (Stihl ProCom) ensured vital communication between our climber and the groundsman lowering the branches / limbs.

Outcome

  1. Pine tree taken down safely and efficiently, with all arisings safely and removed from site in one day
  2. No damage caused to the garden or property
  3. Removed future tree-related risk for the property owner
